Bible: They have started working on their two part Unit 2 Bible test this week. 50% of their test is a Bible brochure that would give someone who does not know anything about the Bible more information. They will work on this in class for the next week. They will also take a "normal" test on October 29 on their notes and maps and this will count for the other 50% of the test. They should also be learning the books of the Old and New Testament that can be recited anytime in the next two week. It was fun to hear many of them sing the books of the Old Testament this week! (:
History: We are continuing our look at Latitude and Longitude. They will be working with maps and coordinates this week.

Please check the homework calendar for sketchbook assignments.
Bible: This week we have begun our study of the Gospel of John. Students have been noting the difference between this gospel and the others while studying its view of Jesus. Look for a Gospel Unit Test the week of October 27th. We'll be wrapping up our study of the Gospels and moving forward to a close look at Jesus' life.

We will be using grammar to help us understand and master the craft as we continue to draft. The first draft of the essay will be due on Wednesday, October 22. There will be class time on Monday and Tuesday to prepare for this draft.
I will be sending out an email soon with more specific information regarding the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd draft of the project.
Orchestra: We are working hard on 2 new songs-Adirondack Sleighride and English carols - both very detailed and complicated string pieces. These great 8th graders are working to learn all of the nitty gritty details in these songs! Keep up the great work!
