Greetings Parents of Forest Hills Bus Riders,

Welcome to the first day of summer vacation! What a glorious day the Lord has blessed us with.

Below is VERY IMPORTANT information for all families that live within the Forest Hills district and would like their children to ride the bus!

Please note that the process will be exactly the same as this recently completed school year! The wording may seem different, but I have been assured that nothing is changing.

2014/2015 Transportation Request Information

Attention Ada Christian Parents

Please make sure to submit your transportation requests

for next school year before:

Friday, July 11, 2014

All requests must be submitted online at:

http://www.fhps.net/transportation-2/

Transportation requests will be filled on a first come,

first served basis and only if space is available.

Below are the transportation alternatives available for the 2014/2015 school year. You will be prompted to indicate your AM pick up and PM drop off preferences.

Please do not request space on the bus

if you do not anticipate using it on a REGULAR basis.

Also, please be sure to notify us

if your transportation needs change.

AM Transportation Options:

Utilize neighborhood busing and transfer at high school campus to Ada Christian shuttle buses.

AM Regional Service stops at:
- Central Campus (Central High Tennis Courts)
- Eastern Campus (Knapp Street Entrance)
- Northern Campus (Northern Trails 5/6 School Bus Lot)

PM Transportation Options:

Shuttle from Ada Christian to elementary buildings and transfer to neighborhood buses.
PM Regional Service stop options (parent pick up at the following locations):
- Ada Elementary
- Central Woodlands 5/6 School
- Collins Elementary School
- Knapp Forest Elementary
- Meadow Brook Elementary School
- Northern Trails 5/6 School
- Orchard View Elementary School
- Pine Ridge Elementary School
- Thornapple Elementary School

General Announcements

Thank you for partnering with us through another wonderful year. We hope you and your family have an enjoyable and relaxing summer break. Below are some items we would like to share with you as school wraps up for the year.

Summer Camps:

Art Camp: Mr. Wanner will again be holding his Art camp for ACS 3rd - 8th Graders. This year, camp will be held from July 14 - July 18. 3rd - 5th graders will meet from 9:30 - 12:00 and 6th - 8th graders will meet from 12:45 - 3:30. Please see the attached registration form for all of the exciting details. There are also forms in the office.

Music Camp: Mrs. VanNoord is reintroducing ACS Summer Music Camp for 4 days in June - the 23rd - 26th from 9:00 - 11:30. This amazing opportunity is open to incoming 5th - 9th graders - YES, our graduating 8th graders are welcome to join Mrs. VanNoord one last time! To read ALL about it,click on the link. Computer Camp: Mr. Kiser, Mr. Musch and Mrs. VanNoord are inviting you to attend ACS Computer Camp. This year's camp will be held July 28 - August 1 from 9:00 - 11:30. This camp is open to students entering grades 4 - 8 and is limited to 30 attendees. Register soon to secure your spot. To read ALL about it, click on the link. There are also forms in the office. Worship Recital: You are invited to a worship recital featuring Nancy Van Noord, saxophone, and Kenneth Bos, piano at the Calvin College Recital Hall in the Covenant Fine Arts Center on Monday, June 16 at noon. Tickets will be available at the door. Mrs. VN would love to see you there!

Other Music Camps: Other great summer camp opportunities - especially for those interested in music theatre and fine arts - - Calvin College Knollcrest Music Camp (Many ACS people have attended this and then been highly successful in the ACS musical as well) and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

5th Grade News

Summer Math Review: Mr. Boersma has put together a summer math review packet that covers the 11 chapters your students worked through this year. The link below will bring you to that page. 6th Grade News

7th Grade News

Class Video: The 7th graders have been reflecting on "identity" over the past few days in LA and Bible. We've discussed different ways the world tries to label us, but how in Christ, we are transformed and are given a new identity. Here is a link to the 7th Grade Identity Video that we put together during our study.

Summer Math Review: Miss Sanderson and Mr. Kiser recommend that 7th Grade students looking ahead to Algebra next year complete this Summer Math Activities review. The review has a brief recap of targeted concepts, practice pages, and activities/games that can be completed with another family member.

Athletics

Fall sports sign-ups for the 2014/15 school year for 5th - 8th grade are now out. Please click on the link below to sign your son up for boys soccer or your daughter up for girls volleyball. You may also find the link by going to the ACS 5-8 Athletic page. The sign-up deadline will be August 8. Reminder, no late sign-ups will be accepted.
