Spring Concert for the Entire Middle School:  Thursday, May 15, 7:00 p.m. at ACS.









6th Grade News

Art: 6th grade students are working on their creating ceramic chickens.  6th grade students should be working on learning the green sheet of ceramic terms for homework as there will be a quiz in a couple of week on those terms.  

Band:  Great job on GrandFriends Day!!!  Our Spring Concert is Thursday, May 15 at ACS, 7:00 p.m.  Concert Dress (Black and White).

Bible:  This week we will look at the stories of Exodus as God sends Moses to Pharaoh to "Let My People Go!"   

History:  Seven Wonders of Ancient Rome paragraphs due on Tuesday.  Rubrics were handed out on Friday for final details.   One copy will be printed, and one uploaded to Moodle.  Final test on Ancient Rome on Friday - May 9.

Language arts:  The final component of the World Fair project is persuasive speeches.  The 6th graders will be giving their World Fair persuasive speeches  (using their persuasive papers) on Wednesday and Thursday of next week (May 7 and 8). We have discussed speech DO's and DON'Ts in class.  Students have been asked to practice their speeches in front of a mirror, record themselves on imovie, and give their speeches to a parent/sibling.  I am certain that after hearing these speeches next week, the sixth graders will want to travel the world!  :)

PE: This week in PE we will begin our fitness unit.  

Science: I'm so proud of the effort that these students are putting in as they grow as scientific explorers and communicators!  Now that we have a deep conceptual understanding of what energy is and what energy does, we'll be examining how we as Christians are called to use our knowledge as we work to be good stewards & restoration workers in God's world.
Spanish:   We will be doing our Family Tree Presentations this week!  Students present in Spanish, then field questions asked by their classmates - all in Spanish.  ¡Qué divertido!


7th Grade News

Art: 7th grade students are working on their layers of life project, which is challenging them to represent their faith, family, and self visually.  Additionally the 7th graders will return to working on their ceramic birds by painting the fired ceramic piece.  

Band:  Great job on GrandFriends Day!!!  Our Spring Concert is Thursday, May 15 at ACS, 7:00 p.m.  Concert Dress (Black and White).

Bible:  
Sanderson: Spiritual Journey projects are due on Tuesday.
Wanner - Test on 1 and 2 Samuel on Thursday.  Also due on Thursday is the take home essay.  Review sheet and take home essay instructions on located on the 7Wanner moodle bible page.  
Van Noord:  We have finished our Isaiah Devotional.  Next up: Daniel.   

PE:  This week in PE we will begin our fitness unit.  

Pre-Algebra (Sanderson): We are wrapping up a study on data and statistics this week.

Spanish:  7F will take their SER vs. ESTAR quiz on Friday (This was rescheduled from last week.)


8th Grade News



Dessert Theatre Photos:  Order forms went out to students for them to order a photo book (hardcover or soft) and/or a photo CD with lots of great pictures from the show.  These were due May 2nd, but contact Mrs. Weaver if you did not order one and still want to.

GRCHS is starting a June Term this summer for students who are interested in earning high school credit to get ahead on graduation requirements or for students looking for a summer enrichment opportunity. Click here for the link.  

Art: 8th graders are working on their family shape project.  students will be writing artist statements to go with this project.  There is a sketchbook assignment due next week, please check the homework calendar for due dates.

Geometry: We are finishing our unit on trigonometry and regular polygons and will have this test on May 7-8.  We will finish with a circle unit using inscribed angles, secants, and tangents.

History:  This week we will look at how the United States was involved in World War I.   We will end the week with a 30 question "quest" on the movies and notes from the last 2 weeks.  (Chapter 16-21 white sheets)

PE:  This week in PE we will begin our fitness unit.  

Spanish:  
8B will take their TEST on Friday.    







Athletics

 
We are still missing a few athletic uniforms from the fall.  Please check your child's closet for a basketball uniform that has not been turned in yet.
